Wi-Fi is a cornerstone of enterprise connectivity and was driving Europe’s digital transformation, delivering billions in economic value and supporting the EU's Digital Decade targets. Enabling by robust fibre, public Wi-Fi also provided vital connectivity in essential spaces like hospitals and schools, supporting inclusive growth and strengthening key sectors. Europe’s ability to unlock the full potential of next-generation Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 6E/7) hinged on critical spectrum policy choices. The future of the upper 6 GHz band remained under debate, and the decision was decisive for Europe’s digital competitiveness compared to global regions that had allocated the full band for unlicensed use. This interactive roundtable examined how unlicensed technologies, powered by 6 GHz spectrum, were already enabling transformative use cases across public and enterprise sectors. Attendees joined the discussion to discuss the options on the table and ensure Wi-Fi remained a key driver of growth, innovation, and Europe’s policy goals.
