Event: Panel session "Exploring the Gigabit Infrastructure Act", during WIK Conference Speaker: Arturs Alksnis – Public Affairs Director Date and time: 14 September 2023, 12:00 CEST Location: Hotel The Dominican - Brussels, Belgium Organiser: WIK
In the context of WIK's annual conference, happening in Brussels on 13-14 September, our Public Affairs Director Arturs Alksnis will take part in the panel session "Exploring the Gigabit Infrastructure Act". This recent initiative from the European Commission seeks to reduce barriers to the deployment of 5G and fibre networks, by extending permit exemptions, streamlining permit-granting processes and strengthening requirements for network operators and others (including infrastructure companies) to offer access to and exchange information about physical infrastructure. In this session, we debate the provisions and explore the steps national regulatory authorities and municipalities could take to accelerate deployment. Featuring prominent representatives from the telecom industry and the European Commission and moderated by WIK's General Manager Dr Cara Schwarz-Schilling, the session promises to be insightful and of extreme value for all those interested in learning more about the future of gigabit connectivity in the EU.
