The event featured a series of high-level debates on the future of connnectivity, from technology choises to fair play and competition. In the context of the panel discussion "Gigabit Connectivity: The Backbone of Europe’s Digital Future", our Director General Vincent Garnier joined MEP Alin MituČ›a, Iliad Group's CEO Thomas Reynaud, ETNO's Director General Lise Fuhr, and Qualcomm's Audrey Scozzaro Ferrazzini, and shared his views on a series of issues such as: how does the Connectivity Package support the roll-out of Gigabit networks while improving consumer welfare? How can member states accelerate roll-out of FTTH and 5G networks? What are the investment requirements for companies participating in the digital ecosystem and how will they fulfil them? Building on the latest market reports presented at the FTTH Conference 2023, Vincent addressed these questions and provided the audience with FTTH coverage, penetration and subscription figures accross the EU, with a focus on the next challenges and roadblocks ahead for the industry.

Fast internet connectivity is essential for the success of individuals, businesses, and Europe’s economy. To stay competitive, Europe must continue to accelerate the roll-out Gigabit Connectivity networks. How does the Connectivity Package support the roll-out of Gigabit networks while improving consumer welfare? How can member states accelerate roll-out of FTTH and 5G networks?
