| Europe breaks One Million Barrier! | ||
The number of FTTH subscribers exceeded one million in 2007. This is the result of the actual market-study of the FTTH Council Europe. The FTTH market in Europe continues to grow. The numbers of subscribers increased nearly 30% from 2006 to 2007 and the “magic” barrier of 1.000.000 FTTH subscribers was therefore passed in the first half of 2007. At the same time also the number of homes passed by FTTH increased to approx. 4 million. Compared to growth rates of 100% in North America and more than 50% in Japan there is still a slow dynamic in Europe. But the One Million subscribers prove that FTTH is already a mass-market phenomenon in Europe. Nevertheless FTTH is still concentrated to some countries in Europe. But 2007 shows that there are some new players on the market. The details of the market study including information about the most interesting projects in Europe will be presented at the Annual Conference of the FTTH Council Europe in Paris on Feb. 27th and 28th. | ||
