As higher data rates and capacity are significantly impacting the mobile backhaul network, the need is clear to invest in backhaul network upgrades to cope with rising traffic consumption. This will be even more needed with the arrival of LTE as it requires significantly more capacity. Furthermore, the evolution towards small cells architecture configuration will redefine the backhaul need for mobile networks (capillarity of small cells). The upgrade of backhaul capacity might be a special opportunity for operators to share fixed and mobile investments: in particular expanding FTTH coverage while meeting backhaul needs.
In this context, in 2012, IDATE has been selected by FTTH Council Europe and FTTH Council APAC to analyse key issues linked to FTTH usage for backhauling. Around 20 mobile telcos around the world have been interviewed during this study.]]> http://www.ftthcouncil.eu/home/latest-news/join-us-for-the-webinar-on-the-mobile-backhaul-study?news_id=3496 <![CDATA[Stockholm to host the world?s largest FTTH showcase in 2014]]> http://www.ftthcouncil.eu/home/latest-news/stockholm-to-host-the-worlds-largest-ftth-showcase-in-2014?news_id=3493 2013-05-16 The FTTH Council Europe is pleased to announce that the FTTH Conference 2014, to be held in the Stockholmsmässan exhibition centre in Stockholm from 18 to 20 February 2014, will feature a special Nordic showcase of FTTH-enabled innovations.
